ROBO-message to Families: Wednesday, May 18, 2022, 3:00 pm

Dear RSU 71 Students and Families,

Our nurses, Assistant Superintendent Laura Miller, and I met this morning to brainstorm a way for staff and students to be in school and not have to miss end-of-year events and treasured traditions. (Case counts continue to be high.)

Please contact our school nurses, Laura and me, with questions.

Thank you,

-Mary Alice McLean

RSU 71 Covid Protocol

Because we are no longer Pooled Testing and do not require masking, our Covid exemptions have changed. However, the SOP (CDC's standard operating procedure) is still in effect through the last day of school. Therefore, the protocol below has been devised as a way for students and staff to attend school and be present for our traditional end-of-year events and celebrations.

Below is the adjusted protocol for students and staff; it adds a step (b) in which a negative test exempts individuals from the need to stay home.

  1. Non-vaccinated, Non-symptomatic Close Contacts of positive individuals may:

  1. Choose to quarantine at home on days 1-5 and, upon return to school, wear a mask for days 6-10.

OR

  1. Choose to test at home on days 1, 3, and 5. Students and staff can attend school with a mask and quarantine while at home if tests are negative. Contact your school nurse if you need testing kits. You may also go onto covidtests.gov to order free test kits.

        2. Symptomatic students and staff need to stay home and contact the school nurse. Your school nurse will work with you to determine your

the course of action.
