Dear RSU 71 Students, Families, Staff and School Board,

This update is to inform you that the three positive cases of the coronavirus we have had in the month of March at Belfast Area High School constitute an outbreak, according to CDC. This is a data-surveillance metric. The school nurses and administrative team are meeting with the CDC tomorrow. The first case is resolved. It is important to note that three cases have not caused the transmission or spread of the disease within the school. The school does not need to move the Red/Remote mode of instruction but will remain in the Yellow/Hybrid.

Questions for the school can be directed to Jeff Lovejoy and Emily Wesson by calling 338-1790.

For general COVID-19 questions, dial 211 (or 1-866-811-5695). You can also text your ZIP code to 898-211 or email info@211maine.orgCall a health care provider for questions about your symptoms. More information can be found at www.maine.gov/dhhs/coronavirus or www.cdc.gov/coronavirus

Many thanks to all members of our community who have worked hard to follow protocols and stay safe. Please continue all efforts at mitigation of this serious and potentially deadly disease.

Sincerely,

  • Mary Alice
