Dear Students, Families, Staff, School Board, and Community Members,
Today we have had two confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Individuals associated with the East Belfast Elementary School and Troy Howard Middle School, one case in each school.
Students at East Belfast will be dismissed beginning at 12 noon today. Parents and guardians are encouraged to pick up their children if they are able. Students needing transportation will be driven home on buses beginning at 12:30 p.m. today. Students at East Belfast will move to the Red/Remote Mode and learn at home remotely beginning tomorrow, returning to in-person instruction on Monday, March 22. Students will be sent home with their 1:1 devices. School nurses will contact Parents and guardians if your child(ren) are close contacts. Students will also be sent home with bag lunches (tuna fish or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches).
At Troy Howard Middle School, only those students who are close contacts will be dismissed today. Students will be sent home with their 1:1 devices. School nurses will contact parents and guardians of students who are close contacts. Parents and guardians of children affected may come to the school to get their children; students requiring transportation will be taken home on a bus. The seventh grade will move to the Red Remote Mode of remote learning and return to school on Friday, March 19.
Though we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, it continues to be imperative that we all continue to strictly follow all safety protocols, especially wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
Please feel free to be in touch with administrators, nurses, and me. We are a great team and will get through this together!
