Weekly Update - Friday, June 10, 2022
Dear RSU 71 Students, Families, Staff, School Board, and Community Partners,
For many students, yesterday was the last day of school for the 2021 - 2022 school year. (Some are returning for summer school.)
It was a celebratory week of recognizing milestones – such as the beautiful high school graduation, and the exciting eighth grade promotion night – along with transition activities for students, families, and staff. Learning continued right through the very last minutes of the day. Many staff gathered outside our schools to wave goodbye to students on the last bus run before summer vacation, a bittersweet tradition. We encourage students departing from our K-5 schools, middle school, and high school to stay in touch with us to let us know how you are doing in the coming years and to visit us when you can.
Reminder to Vote on June 14 (see information ** at the end of this update)
Pandemic Update

On July 1, 2022, public schools will revert back to the pre-existing communicable disease protocols. You can click on the link in blue to see the standard protocol we’ve always used in the case of communicable disease in our schools.

RSU 71 special education department has completed its on-site review with the Maine Department of Special Services. The review went very well and was a great learning experience as well. We would like to thank all the parents, staff, and community members who completed the special education survey that was sent out earlier this year. We had great participation in the survey and I am looking forward to receiving the feedback from the survey.
We hope you all have a wonderful and safe summer.

The school board and staff have worked hard to create an FY ‘23 budget (the fiscal year 2023). The FY ‘23 budget preserves the essential needs of students and staff in our schools and departments. We have sought to be mindful stewards of the resources of our five communities and stay aware of the impact of our proposed budget on town assessments. The budget may be viewed in detail on our district website: Proposed Budget for FY '23.
