Weekly Update 3/18/22

Friday, March 18, 2022,

Dear RSU 71 Students, Families, Staff, School Board, and Community Partners,

Spring starts on Sunday, and spring activities abound in RSU 71, such as softball and baseball, which begin next week. In addition, we are in the process of launching a strategic planning process called Future Search. Over one hundred people representing a wide array of perspectives have signed up to participate Friday night, April 8, and all day Saturday, April 9, at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast. In advance of the event, we are gathering input about our school district's perceived assets and needs, and the competencies that all stakeholders feel are the most important for our graduates: Portrait of a Graduate. If you haven't yet completed the Robo-sent survey, it is not too late to do so: Community Survey - Long-Range Education Plan.

Pandemic Update

Good News - Finally!! Waldo County is in the GREEN Zone of Low-Risk! See  CDC County Tracker.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updates its "community levels" data weekly, looking at case counts, new hospital admissions, and hospital capacity to determine the COVID-19 risk levels by county. The settings are meant as guidelines to help people decide whether to take extra precautions, such as wearing a mask or avoiding crowds. The only recommendations for residents of low-risk counties are to get vaccinated and get tested if they feel sick.
